Melty Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 5, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information Stella Montis Inc. ("Stella Montis," "Melty," "we," "us," or "our") collects when you use Melty, including the website at melty.gg, the Melty desktop app, and the tools Melty offers creators and their coding agents (together, the "Services"), and how we use and share it.
1. Information we collect
Your account. When you sign up, we collect your email address and, if you sign in with Google, your name and profile picture from Google. We also keep the profile name and picture you choose, and the sign-in tokens the website and the Melty app use to keep you signed in.
Your activity on Melty. We keep the mashups you add to your library, what you're playing and when you're online (so your friends can see it), your friends, friend requests and the players you block, and reports you send about a mashup.
What you publish. If you publish a mashup, we keep its files, name, pictures and description, its releases, and the GitHub repository you connect. If you connect a coding agent, we keep a hashed copy of its token, not the token itself.
Install and play reports. When you install, update or play a mashup, the Melty app tells us whether it worked, with short error details and your version of the game. We use these to fix problems, and the mashup's creator can see them.
Multiplayer. When you host a game, we keep your game's network address (IP address and port) and who is in the game, so players who join can connect to you. Your address is shared only with the players in that game.
Your PC. To show what you can play, the Melty app looks for the games installed on your PC and reads their versions. When a mashup uses your own copy of a game, the app looks for that copy in your folders and drives. This is done on your PC: the list of your games and the files of your own copies aren't uploaded to us.
Crash and error reports. The Melty app and website send us reports when something goes wrong, such as error messages, the app version and technical details about your device and the problem. We remove passwords, tokens, cookies and email addresses from these reports before they're sent.
Website visits. When you visit melty.gg, we use first-party cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your settings. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
Messages to us. If you email us, we keep the message and your contact details to reply.
2. How we use information
We use information to:
- run the Services: sign you in, set up and start mashups, show your library, friends and who's playing, and connect multiplayer games;
- let creators publish, update and fix their mashups;
- keep Melty and its players safe: review reports, take down mashups that break our Terms, and prevent abuse;
- fix bugs and improve the Services;
- understand how people use Melty;
- answer your messages; and
- meet our legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
We don't sell your personal information, and we don't use it for advertising.
3. Who can see it, and who we share it with
Other people on Melty can see your profile name and picture, the mashups you publish, and what you're playing. Your friends can see when you're online. Players in a game you host receive your game's network address. A mashup's creator can see install reports for their mashup.
Service providers that run parts of Melty for us, such as hosting, storage, databases, sign-in, email and error reporting, process information on our behalf and only to provide their service.
Other services you use with Melty, such as Google when you sign in with Google, or Discord if you let the app show what you're playing there, receive information under their own privacy policies.
We may also share information when the law requires it, when we believe it's needed to protect players, Melty or the public, or as part of a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of assets.
4. How long we keep it
We keep information for as long as your account is open and as long as we need it to provide the Services. Error reports are kept for a limited time. After you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your information, except what we need to keep for legal obligations, disputes, safety or preventing abuse.
5. Security
We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information: connections are encrypted, tokens are stored hashed, and access is limited to the people and providers who need it. No system is completely secure, so we can't promise absolute security.
6. Children
Melty isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without a parent's consent. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.
7. Your choices and rights
You can change your profile name and picture, unfriend or block players, and stop the app from showing what you're playing on Discord. You can stop using Melty and uninstall the app at any time.
You can ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to delete your account by emailing david@melty.gg. Depending on where you live, you may have other rights over your information, and you can contact us to use them.
8. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy. If a change is significant, we'll tell you, for example on melty.gg or in the app, and update the date at the top.
